@WaverleyBC has submittted Fairground Car Park application

Town of Haslemere
Borough of Waverley
County of Surrey

Waverley Borough Council has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under Section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Wey Hill Fairground Car Park.

The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The proposed works are:

(i) A level and even paved surface of permeable plastic or concrete blocks for vehicles and pedestrians, and the construction of tarmac access routes around the site.
(ii) The application of a sustainable (SuDs) solution for surface water drainage.
(iii) Basic improvements to pedestrian access ways off public roads.
(iv) The installation of a demountable barrier to separate the ‘commuter’ and ‘shopper’ sections of the car park.
(v) Formally laid out parking spaces (approximately 176).
(vi) Support infrastructure to car parking, namely perimeter lighting columns and pay and display ticket machines, all fed by underground power supply.
(vii) Improvements to soft landscaping to enhance the overall appearance of the car park and to improve community safety in and around the site.

The works will occupy an area of approximately 0.55hectares. The works will be located on the existing Wey Hill Car Park, being the area of land to the south of Wey Hill, to the east and north of the Wey Centre Community Centre, north of the railway lines and east of Clay Hill House.
