Whether you live or work in Haslemere, I urge you to attend the Waverley Local Committee meeting at Witley Village Hall (called Chichester Hall) this coming Friday, 16th March at 1.30 pm, where the decision will be made about the parking proposals. It is important that we have a large attendance as we did at the demonstration in front of the town hall, to show that we care about Haslemere and that almost everyone objects to what SCC is trying to foist upon us. You only need to attend for the half an hour of public questions if you are limited for time but it is imperative we attend in big numbers.
Even though the retail proposals have been dropped, the P&D [ pay & display] proposals for the residential roads have been kept in, which will inevitably impact on unrestricted roads and on the retail areas. We believe that this is because SCC want the revenue not that they want to solve the parking issues of Haslemere. Please show your support for all the customers who supported us and come to the meeting on Friday.
Silence will be regarded by the committee as agreement with their proposals.
Chichester Hall is on the A283 at the southern end (the King Edward School end) of Witley village, next to a large playing field, just where the 40 mph zone is replaced by the 30 mph village zone. There is some parking available, otherwise there is parking on the grass verge opposite the hall or further into the village in Church Lane on the other side of the road.
