Two senior members of @SurreyCouncil have been asked to stand down from their roles in the Cabinet

BREAKING news from BBC Surrey – Two senior members of Surrey County Council have been asked to stand down from their roles in the Cabinet.

Ian Lake is responsible for roads and transport for the county …And Denise Saliagopolous is the member in charge of the Olympics co-ordination for Surrey County Council.

The unexpected announcement in the last few minutes has another twist …

Not only has the leader of Surrey County Council David Hodge ordered them to leave the Cabinet … But they are also being referred to the council’s Standards Committee.

County Hall says two new cabinet members will be appointed shortly.

This is the second time in 6 months that Ian Lake has been fired as Head of Transport. Also, here’s some background from a blogger in an article entitled Musical Chairs At County Hall.

We’ve talked about Ian Lake in the forum:

Ian Lake ignored the county wide parking petition.

Ian Lake said he can’t subsidise free parking and yet he gets free parking.

He approved the contract for the parking meters last year.
