@SurreyCouncil Haslemere parking link is STILL not working!

Surrey Council produced their public notice dated 18th October and gave this web address, http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/parking/Waverley so residents could view more information.

We have already blogged here saying the link is not working.

Twice I checked yesterday and it was not working. I e-mailed the SCC parking team (again!) to let them know.

They replied at 4.40pm yesterday saying:

We checked again and when I type this http://surreycc.gov.uk/parking/waverley  into my browser address bar, it works ok.

I checked this morning and have had to e-mail SCC again with this screen print, time stamp 9.28am today.

Does that mean we get extra days to comment or do we just use this as amo for a Judicial review into the processes that Surrey County have followed?

I tried the website at 3.30pm today and it did not work. It said “page not found”.

It is working now at 7.30pm. I am laughing at the instructions in the online form to submit your responses with a limit on the number of words you can use. 700 objections were made ahead of the March meeting and very few were recorded in the officers’ report. We’re wise to SCC now. Why would anyone submit online when you cannot keep a copy for yourself?

A reminder of David Hodge Promise:

Surrey County Council and the Chairman of Waverley Local Committee have decided not to pursue proposals to introduce new on-street parking controls and charges in Haslemere, after listening to the concerns of local people.

Instead, a working group will now be set up to look at transport issues in the town with a view to developing a plan for the future. The group will work with the community to find solutions to Haslemere’s transport problems.

Leader of Surrey County Council David Hodge said: “After listening to the concerns of local people, we came to the conclusion that these proposals should not be pursued.

“It’s clear there are transport issues in Haslemere that need to be addressed, including parking, but I believe the best solutions will come from residents and other stakeholder groups in the town, because they know their community better than anyone.

“The working group will allow us all to work together to resolve the issues and come up with a long term plan.”

The on-street parking proposals that have now been halted were originally put forward to Waverley Local Committee on March 16.
