Subject: URGENT ACT TODAY – HASLEMERE PARKING

Any chance of posting the below on the Forum?

You may or not be aware by now but Waverley Local Committee passed through flawed parking proposals on the 21st September 2012 to statutory consultation (which is a limited consultation, responses restricted to 250 words), which ends on 16 November, NEXT FRIDAY.

In the SCC officers report it said the current parking proposals will have a displacement effect of 35 cars only.  The SCC officers failed to reveal in that report the displacement effect of the double yellow lines and the cars from Lower Street and Shepherds Hill that currently park in the local roads.  Based on SCC’s response to a Freedom of Information request made in August, SCC failed to do any analysis in surrounding roads such as Fieldway and Tanners Lane (which are already deeply affected by all-day parking, as shown by my video evidence) VIDEO LINK http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOs9VnVMPrU&feature=plcp and this is where they believe that ADDITIONAL CAR PARKING SPACES COULD BE FOUND FOR THOSE CARS DISPLACED from the current roads being considered for ROPS and yellow lines.

The Waverley Local Committee which met on 21 September failed to answer any substantive questions on the analysis despite being asked by a member of the public at the Local Committee meeting “I see in your report that there is a displacement affect of 35 cars, considering all the roads being marked for changes, that would make it two cars per road?”

Surrey County Council are wanting to bring in ROPS into Popes Mead, Chestnut Avenue, Courts Hill Road and Beech Road (a road opposite the Hospital). They are wanting to bring in parking restrictions in Derby Road, Tanners Lane, Bunch Lane, Courts Mount Road and Courts Hill Road all this without looking at Haslemere as a whole.

If you are tired of being treated in such a shoddy way by Surrey County Council, if you are tired of broken promises by Surrey County Council and a local Committee that fails to engage with residents, please vote with your feet.

The advertised web link does not work a capital W for Waverley – so the web address in the public notice (which has Waverley with a capital W!) is inaccurate.
