ParkAtMyHouse.com currently has six households offering their drives/garages for parking. All the ads mention the train station.
Here are the ads:
Single bay in private garage. Fully lit and in residential area, 2 minute walk to Haslemere station (which has a 6 year waiting list for parking spaces). The map shows it is in Kings Road.
Private newly paved driveway, on small privately owned road with active neighbourhood watch scheme in operation. Suitable for three small cars or two large. We currently use just one space for our car during daytime and two spaces in the evening, although very flexible as we have the use of other driveways on the road. We are just 10 mins walk from Haslemere mainline station, which operates a frequent and direct fast train into London Waterloo and underground connections.
Off-road parking available for 2 cars (or more). Walking distance (~10 mins) to Haslemere main-line train station with easy access to London Waterloo and the underground network.
Private tarmaced parking on driveway about 7mins walk from Haslemere station. This driveway is also off a secluded private road which is a culdesac so is very quiet.
Concrete bay off private gated drive directly outside house. Half mile to Haslemere High Street (town centre). 1.5 miles to Haslemere Station. It is a large space so could fit caravan etc.
I am 20 mins from the station and close to the Herons Leisure centre. The parking space is a gated area of hardstanding at the back of my house which can be locked and is lighted and secure. It is a large space so yu could fit a caravan or large mpv there.
If any of the roads above are subject to residents’ only permits, would it be reasonable for the council to have a clause that households may not profit personally from the scheme? Should Surrey County Council encourage this type of scheme as part of its solution for commuter parking?
