Parking permits take-up poor

An article in this week’s Haslemere Herald, Parking permits take-up poor.

JUST one person has taken up a £50 parking permit scheme for Haslemere’s High Street car park.
The trial scheme, set up to run for 12 months initially, allows shoppers to park in the town’s busiest car park from 3pm-5.30pm, Mondays to Wednesdays, for £50 a year.
Anticipating a big demand, Waverley Borough Council set a limit of 50 permits when it approved the scheme in July.
But since they became available on September 1, an inquiry by the blog, came back with the answer that only one person had applied for a permit so far.
