Herald article: Withdraw Wey Hill plan call

CAMPAIGNERS battling to prevent Wey Hill Fairground becoming a permanent pay-and-display car park are celebrating the opportunity to fight their corner when it goes to public inquiry.
Ambitious plans to transform the area of common land now used as a free car park into a mixed-use central meeting place – with a piazza, shops and an underground car park – have already been proposed by residents as a possible alternative use. The Planning Inspectorate’s announcement that Waverley’s application for common land consent to upgrade the site as a car park would be determined by a public inquiry next year – due to the large number of responses – has been welcomed by Haslemere Vision.
